For PC gamers, 2023 looks to be extremely exciting and hopefully more affordable as we see cheaper options being launched by major players like AMD, Intel and Nvidia. However, when it comes to PC hardware, 2022 is like no other year.
Topping the rankings is the super rare clash between Intel’s 13th generation Raptor Lake and AMD’s Zen 4 7000-series processors. Not only do these compete head-to-head with very different approaches, but they were also released within weeks of each other, making for a direct clash where the gloves are off.
AMD and Nvidia also briefly went head-to-head with their latest graphics cards – Nvidia with the GeForce RTX 4090 and 4080 and AMD with the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and 7900 XT. However, the prices for the new cards, which start at $800 with the 7900 XT and top out at $1,600 with the RTX 4090, have not been well received.
Thankfully, 2023 will see the launch of cheaper models as well as cheaper processors from AMD and Intel, and these are just some of the great PC hardware launches you can look forward to. in 2023.
Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti – Launched in January
The RTX 4080 and 4090 are certainly powerful, but if the thought of spending $1,200 on just one graphics card doesn’t appeal, there are cheaper options down the road starting with the RTX 4070 Ti.
Rumored to retail between $800 and $1,000, it will be much cheaper than the RTX 4080, but leaked benchmark results show it delivers around 30% more performance than the RTX 3080. It still not exactly cheap as the RTX 3080 cost $699 at launch and is an extremely powerful piece of kit.
Nvidia will also have the RX 7900 It’s good to see cheaper options coming from Nvidia, and this could be one of the first major hardware launches, which, according to rumors, will launch in early January.
Cheaper Nvidia graphics cards – 2023
Below the RTX 4070 Ti are the expected RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 models, which it is hoped will eventually command a price under $600. With the RTX 4070 Ti offering a pretty good upgrade over the RTX 3080 according to leaked benchmarks, it’s possible that the RTX 4060 could match the RTX 3080 in terms of performance or even better it.
It’s likely that the RTX 4060 will retail for $500-600 in line with the prices we’ve seen for other RTX 4000 series cards, making it much more affordable for PC gamers on a tighter budget. and will likely deliver much better performance at higher resolutions and in light rays. -based on more titles than most RTX 3000 series cards.
Cheaper AMD processors – launching in January
The Ryzen 5 7600X, Ryzen 7 7700X, Ryzen 9 7900X and 7950X processors are struggling with sales, likely due to high prices that have dropped in recent weeks, compatibility only for DDR5 memory and high motherboard prices. That doesn’t mean they aren’t competitive, with great performance and efficiency.
However, PC enthusiasts often vote with their wallets, so it’s no surprise to see sluggish sales compared to cheaper Intel alternatives that are also fast and benefit from Cheaper foundation costs. However, AMD looks set to launch two significant processors in the new year, starting with the non-X models of the existing quartet.
According to the latest rumors, the Ryzen 9 7900, Ryzen 7 7700 and Ryzen 5 7600 will retail at a significantly lower price than the X models according to the latest rumors, but will have a lower TDP, meaning they consumes less power and can run cooler, requiring less hindrance to cool the processor too. They will have the same core architecture but lower frequencies, so it will be interesting to see how they compare to AMD’s own and Intel’s current product lines. We won’t have to wait long as they are expected to launch mid-January.
AMD Ryzen 7000 3D V-Cache/X3D processor
What could turn AMD’s processor fortunes around in 2023 are 3D V-Cache models. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D has proven extremely popular with gamers thanks to its extra cache and lower internal latency that give a significant performance boost in most games, especially since it is backward compatible with other older motherboards and as a result offer a great upgrade path.

In fact, it is widely believed to be the cause of sluggish Ryzen 7000 processor sales, and owners of older CPUs are instead upgrading to it, avoiding high motherboard prices and the need to upgrade to it. The need to switch to expensive DDR5 memory. Its prowess in games means it remains a powerhouse to be reckoned with even when compared to the latest generation processors from both AMD and Intel while others in the range en Ryzen 5000 drops in the performance chart again.
Therefore, it’s reasonable to assume that the Ryzen 7000 .
There’s no rumored launch date yet, and as I predicted earlier this year when speaking with AMD’s Robert Hallock, the new 3D V-Cache models didn’t launch with the first wave of Ryzen 7000 processors. . AMD needs to solve this problem quickly to get people to buy its Socket AM5 platform, but it may be worth the wait.
The CPU is cheaper than Intel’s and could launch in the 14th generation
Intel has had a successful launch with its 13th generation Raptor Lake CPUs, and the Core i5-13600K in particular has an overall edge over AMD’s rivals, with great value as well as decent overclocking potential. Good.
However, with AMD avoiding releasing CPUs at the very low end and instead relying on previous generation models to bridge the low-to-mid-range gap, this means that Intel often gets a following. well here with CPUs like the Core i5 12400F and Core i5 -9400F proving extremely popular.
This time, the Core i5-13500 is in the spotlight, with the latest benchmark leaks indicating that it is capable of beating the Core i5-12600K while costing less. This could be a great option for those on a tight budget, especially since it supports DDR4 memory and the cheaper Z690 and B660 motherboards.
Its 14th-gen Meteor Lake CPUs could also launch in late 2023, bringing even more performance and a 7nm manufacturing process, but those may have to be pushed back to 2024.
