July is going to be an exciting month for Android fans with a brand new phone coming out from the Nothing team. The fledgling tech brand is hoping to take on the likes of Samsung, Google and Xiaomi with a device that looks and feels very different from any device before it.
The phone launch event (1) will take place at 4pm on July 12th and it is definitely an event to watch as it could have a sizable impact on the market.
Carl Pei is the man behind Nothing with the tech entrepreneur who has proven his reputation by being one of the co-founders of the hugely popular OnePlus brand. Pei left that Chinese company in 2020 and is now hoping to replicate the same success with Nothing.
“When we started Nothing we wanted to bring back the excitement we used to feel for the tech industry,” says Pei. We can’t wait to reveal the phone (1) to the world later this summer. “
Little is known about the actual hardware, but we got a rough look at the company’s version of Android that looks quite unique.
The software has striking black wallpapers and digital style fonts.
Along with the new look, Nothing OS also has a feature called Maximum Icons and Maximum Folder, which is a new experience for Android.
This allows users to hold and tap to zoom in on app folders or individual apps, so the things you use the most are clearly visible.
There are also custom Clock and Weather widgets along with the option to customize the home screen with Nothing Wallpaper and associated color scheme.
While Nothing has currently announced its launch date, there is no word on a full release date or pricing yet but subscribers to the (1) phone should expect plenty of deals with O2 said they will sell the device to subscribers. options like Disney+ for free.
Of course, it’s nothing but a new company trying to rock the market with Chinese brand Realme recently announcing its new NEO GT 3.
