Microsoft’s latest update brings changes to the Windows 11 Camera app, Media Player app, and Movies & TV app. Check out details here.
Microsoft on Wednesday, July 13 released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25158 to the Dev Channel. With the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview, Microsoft is introducing notification badges with Widgets. In addition to some general changes and improvements, this build also includes a good set of fixes. Along with the new Windows 11 Build, Microsoft has also released updates for many of the built-in Windows 11 apps. Updates include the camera app, media player app, and Movies & TV app.
“Hi Windows Insiders, we’re rolling out updates to Camera and Media Player for Windows Insiders on Windows 11 starting with the Dev Channel,” Microsoft said in a blog post. Here’s everything you need to know about the Windows 11 update:
1. Windows 11 Camera App
The camera app is getting the most noticeable changes. Announcing the update, Microsoft said: “The Camera app has been updated to match the sleek new look and feel of Windows 11. In addition to existing support for photo, video, document and whiteboard, we are happy to introduce QR Codes and barcode scanning as well.”
2. New Windows 11 Media Player App
The new Media Player app is being updated to version 11.2206.30.0. With this latest update, Microsoft will also add support for ripping CDs. “Back in March, we introduced CD playback support to Media Player. With the latest update, we will also be adding CD ripping support. Supported formats in this release include AAC, WMA, FLAC and ALAC,” the company said.
3. Movies & TV app on Windows 11
Microsoft has also started rolling out an update to the Movies & TV app in version 10.22061 and later to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel.
According to the information provided by the company, it has improved the Movie & TV experience on Arm64 devices. Users will now be able to see faster and better performance when using the app.
Additionally, Microsoft is moving video file type associations from Movies & TV to Media Player. This migration will only affect file types that are already associated with Movies & TV and only after you open Movies & TV for the first time.
