The iPhone 14 release date is fast approaching. We expect four new iPhone 14 models this year, and they’ll likely be available for pre-order in just a few months. Head below for full details on everything we know on release date, potential delays, and more.
iPhone timelines over the years
While the first phone models are usually announced in the first half of the year, Apple has moved to a consistent schedule of announcing and releasing new iPhone models in September. Here’s a brief timeline of the new iPhone models. the last few years of iPhone releases:
- iPhone 13″: September 23, 2021
- iPhone 12″: October 23, 2020
- iPhone 11: September 20, 2019
- iPhone XS: September 21, 2018
- iPhone X: November 3, 2017
- iPhone 8: September 22, 2017
- iPhone 7: September 16, 2016
As you can see, the iPhone release schedule has become relatively consistent, but there are two main exceptions. The iPhone 12 series was delayed by a month due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The iPhone X was announced in September, but it was not until November. As you may recall, the iPhone X featured a completely new design and was the first iPhone with Face ID.
iPhone 14 release date news
The iPhone 14 lineup is expected to feature camera upgrades, redesigns for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, etc. For example, the Pro models are expected to have punch holes + pill-shaped cuts. . The front-facing camera is expected to be updated, a new purple color may be offered, and there are rumors of an always-on display.
This year, all indications are that the iPhone 14 is on track to be announced and released in September. This includes the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. That’s the whole new iPhone lineup we’re looking forward to this year.
If history is any indication, Apple usually holds an annual Special Event to announce new iPhone models on the first or second Tuesday of September. This year, that will be September 6, or September 13. Assuming Labor Day is September 5 in the United States, the most likely date for the keynote this year is September 13.
With all that said, we still cannot completely rule out the possibility of a delay. As we’ve discussed many times, there are currently a myriad of issues affecting the supply chain, from shortages to shutdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
So far, we have only seen one report that the iPhone 14 is facing production delays. And even that report indicates that the delay is affecting the iPhone 14 Max, not the other three modes. Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the iPhone 14 lineup is still on track to launch and release in September. He did note, however, that the iPhone 14 Max is “running behind” but the situation is “within range.” control”.
However, Apple will always prioritize iPhone production over its other products. The iPhone is the company’s biggest product, generates the most revenue, and is what Wall Street investors care most about. If further supply chain issues emerge, we’ll likely see other products delayed before the iPhone 14 is delayed.
