Apple Self-Service Repairs Now Available
US customers can now buy genuine Apple parts and tools
CUPERTINO, California Apple today announced Self-Service Self-Service, making repair manuals and genuine Apple tools and parts available through the Apple Self-Service Store. Self-service repair is available in the US and will expand to other countries – starting in Europe – later this year.
New online store offering over 200 individual parts and tools, allowing customers with experience repairing complex electronic devices to complete repairs on iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone models SE (3rd generation), such as the screen, battery, and camera. Later this year, the program will also include manuals, parts, and tools for performing repairs on Apple silicon Mac computers.
To begin the Self-Repair process, customers will first review the repair instructions for the product they wish to repair by visiting support.apple.com/self-service-repair. They can then visit the Apple Self-Service Repair Store and order the necessary parts and tools.
Every genuine Apple part is designed and engineered for each product, and undergoes extensive testing to ensure the highest quality, safety, and reliability. The parts are the same – for the same price – as those available in Apple’s network of authorized repair suppliers. For certain repairs, the customer will receive a credit for returning the replaced part for recycling.
The Apple tools available to customers on the Self-Service Store are the same as those used by the Apple repair network. They’re custom engineered to help deliver the best repairs for Apple products, and are engineered to withstand the rigors of high volume, professional repair operations where safety and reliability are essential. Reliability is a top priority. The high quality tools offered through Self-Service Repair include torque drivers, repair trays, monitors and battery presses, etc.
Apple will offer rental kits for $49, so customers who don’t want to buy tools for a one-time repair still have access to these professional repair tools. Week-long rental kits will be shipped to customers free of charge.
Self-service repair is part of Apple’s effort to further expand access to repair. For the vast majority of customers with no experience repairing electronic devices, it’s safe to go to a professional repair provider with technicians certified to use genuine Apple parts.
