Fast company soon confirmed the hack, said in a tweet that it took down its site after the breach until it was able to secure its system:
“Fast Company’s Apple News account was hacked Tuesday night. Two sexually explicit and racist push notifications were sent about a minute apart. The messages were vile and inconsistent with the content. content of Fast Company. We are investigating the matter and have suspended the feed and closed FastCompany.com until we are certain that the situation has been resolved.”
Before it disappears, Fast companyTheir website has a message from the “postpixel” hackers, where they describe how they can perform the attack by hacking Fast companyback-end of WordPress, and mocked the publisher’s attempt to secure its publishing tools and admin portal.
The hackers also claimed to have accessed thousands of employee records that they intended to share on a forum about transaction information stolen due to a security breach.
In a nutshell, it looks like the hacker gained a login that allowed them access Fast companyApple’s Apple News content management system for sending push notifications, apparently without a censorship filter. We’ll update this article if we learn more.
