Google recently announced a version of Android 13 Go, built for low-end smartphones. In addition to new features tailored to the needs of Go users, this update also brings some key Android 13 features like Notification Permissions, App Language Preferences, etc. Notice in a post on blog, the tech giant says new devices running Android 13 (Go edition) will launch in 2023.
For those who don’t know, Google first introduced the Go version five years ago in 2017. There are now more than 250 million monthly active devices powered by Android Go, Google says.
New features of Android 13 Go version
Google introduced several additions for the first time with the new Go edition software. The new release brings Material You to Android Go for the first time. This means that owners of low-end Android phones will be able to customize their phone’s color scheme to coordinate with the wallpaper. “When you set your wallpaper, you’ll see four respective color schemes to choose from,” the blog post states.
Additionally, users will be able to add dynamic colors to their phone’s home screen. Android (Go version) has built-in smarts that help you get more out of your phone. The Android 13 Go version release brings Explore to entry-level phones, allowing users to swipe right from the home screen to view curated lists of articles and other content.
Google has added an important method to keep devices running Android Go up to date. It added Google Play System Updates to the latest minor software that helps ensure devices can regularly receive critical software updates, outside of the main Android release. This will make it quick and simple to deliver important updates without affecting storage capacity on the device.
Eligible device
Although Google has not revealed the list of phones that will receive the Android 13 Go version. But it’s likely that some existing Android Go phones will be eligible for the new software. This may include Samsung Galaxy M13 5G, Samsung Galaxy A10 series, Samsung Galaxy A03 Core, Vivo Y series, Nokia C21 series and some Redmi phones.
