A major Windows 11 update leak just happened; Big name changes in works

In a seemingly accidental leak by Microsoft itself, it has been suggested that the company is actually changing its naming strategy for its upcoming Windows updates. Here’s what you can expect from the next Windows update.

Microsoft is ready to release the next major Windows 11 update with many new features and improvements for users. Most importantly, the company is bringing back the reliable Windows Media Player. However, Windows has now changed its naming strategy, according to Tech Radar.

The update, instead of the usual names like Windows 22H2 update or Windows Creators update, will be simply called “Windows 11 2022 Update”. The change was discovered by a Twitter user named XenoPanter, who noticed the updated name in the Windows Start page.

However, this does not divert attention from the series of problems that have plagued Windows 11 since its launch. These errors have become a problem-solving tool for some people because Windows 11 isn’t as fast as Microsoft expected. There have been security issues with Windows 11 as well as problems with basic functions like the Start Menu.

Currently, Microsoft plans to roll out the Windows 12 update in 2024. However, the company may have to rethink its decision as the majority of people are still using Windows 10 and not Windows 11 Some even use older operating systems. Therefore, Microsoft may have to remove Windows 11 before deciding to release the next version of the OS.

According to Tech Radar, Windows has moved on from annual security updates. Microsoft even scrapped next year’s big update “Sun Valley 3” in favor of smaller updates. Microsoft has decided to call these small updates “Moments”.

Microsoft tests new features through the Windows Insider Program. Those who opt into the Windows Insider Program can use and test these features for any bugs, glitches, or performance issues. Only then can they be released to the public through an update.
